St. Paul—The Minnesota Council of Health Plans Board of Directors has named John Naylor its chair. Naylor is the president and CEO of Medica and has served on the Council Board since 2017.

As an association of nonprofit health insurers, the Council works to create a space where its member insurers put aside competitive concerns and work together with partners across the state to make health care less expensive, more effective and more accessible for all Minnesotans. The Council works with all Minnesotans—no matter how they get their insurance, no matter where they live or who they are.

As chair, Naylor will continue the industry’s work to help Minnesota solve its most challenging problems in health care to make sure people can get the care they need not only today, but in the future as well.

“This organization has a long track record of working together to make health care better and I look forward to building on that success,” Naylor said. “Health care is going through period of rapid change and we are facing increasing challenges to make sure people can not only get the care they need, but also to make it more affordable for families. It’s more important than ever for the community to come together to craft real solutions, and the Council is eager to be a part of this important work.”

Naylor brings to the Council more than 30 years of industry experience. In addition to serving on the Council’s Board, Naylor is on the boards of the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities and Greater MSP.
